Goals

it is Wednesday am. I went to sleep at 6 last night. Had a horrible headache. Thank goodness I am better today.

The trip has already been amazing. I had two things that were really important to me well I guess you could say three and they have been accomplished! I was able to see the twin girls Rose-Manie and Rose-Marie and to see Mirtha. I have spent quite a bit of time with Rose-Manie and Mirtha. But not nearly enough.
Danielle has met Denny. Its odd but awesome. He has taken a liking to her already. He started school about 3 weeks ago. He looked so cute heading to school with his backpack on.

yesterday the mission handed out rice, beans, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, a protein block, protein drink mix, hats and something else that I can't remember. I marked the cards of people as they entered to show they got theirs and they were all so happy and friendly. had a couple who tried to sneek in without the card that we had to send back out. Oh yeah and the rice... Danielle and I learned the right way to fill rice bags lol!

We walked with Pastor Ken up into the market too. They have market day on Tuesdays.

Haiti 2010

Here we go!  It has been a super busy day!! We had a wonderful service at church this am.  We came home and laid everyone down for naps so I could pack (NO I HAD NOT STARTED, BUT I AM FINISHED) and then went and had some photos taken....for whatever reason I was adament I wanted them before I left.   We got to have a quick bite to eat with Nathan & Danielle which was great!  I am now listening to Sponge Bob while on the computer and trying to get the last minute things done.  The kids are all in bed.  I have said my good byes for the most part, although the hardest ones are still coming.  Coral and Nicoll will be riding with Mom to take me to the church so Brian can stay with the kids.  We will be meeting at our church this evening/Monday am at 1:30.  We will leave at 2:15 or so.  We will have plenty of time as American nearly had me on the wrong plane, but it is all worked out now!  WHEW!  We leave out of Chicago at 9:30 am ET heading to Miami.  From Miami we go to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.  We should be on the ground there at 4:10 ET. It will take about 2-3 hours to get through customs and out to the village of Caizale.  I hope to update the blog as much as possible!  Love to all!!!!

I am sitting here with many questions.   like why is there cancer? Why is there hurricanes? Why so much pain for the innocent to bare? Then I realize, what else would make me pull closer to God? I have been given the weekend to spend with one of my best friends from high school. I have stayed with her as she experiences something I have already lived through.  There have been many blessings already through these experiences.  Blessings that are in both our experiences. No chemo no radiation.  But one blessing we didn't share is the one I am receiving...time with her.  I am able to be here with her as she suffers through these first few days. See after more then 20 years we reunited...in time to share her experience. I am rambling but I thank God He let me be here for here. I also thank God that Brian has been so wonderful and understanding of my need to be here with her.

» The Rescue Center location.  The damage is getting worse with each tremor that we have.  We need to make some decisions soon.  The kids have been living and sleeping outside since Tuesday night.  We are thinking a new location that is not far away.

» Infant formula and food for the kids

» fuel for generator and vehicles

» the kids in the RC and my kids peace in their hearts

» some way to be able to get some Haiti money as stores normally used are closed

Mission Trip - Cancelled!

I cannot begin to describe my feelings right now.  Our mission trip has been "postponed" for most of the team - well, most likely for all, except for me...my trip will most likely be cancelled unless they reschedule for sometime after June 1.  The baby is due in mid April and I cannot miss that.  In fact, I joked last night with "K" and told her that I have been given information on another team who is looking for additional team members (not that I would go with another team) for a trip March 14 - April 4...she said, "yeah, ah mom the baby is due in April - NO!" ha ha, I laughed.  Please check out the blogs I follow, they really give some insight to the real stuff.  These people are going to need our help and prayers for a long, long time. When listening to the radio reports or watching the TV news reports - don't forget to look for the positive stories...they are out there! I just read that a Lafayette nurse who had not been heard from since she landed at PAP a hour prior to the earthquake, had been heard from, I watched CNN this am and heard of a little girl they thought had been orphaned and her father showed up with her photo and they were reunited.  Those stories are there and will continue.  I am feeling overwlemed with emotions.  Although, i think today maybe better.  Yesterday I couldn't talk about it or even think about it without crying.  I have a hard time NOT watching something about Haiti.  That's about all I do watch. My heart hurts and is heavy.  It's something most people can't comprehend.  But once you have been there its hard to get these people who have so litte but yet have so much out of your head - they NEVER leave your heart! Just don't forget to pray!

I am blessed to be a part of a team of 9 from Hickory Grove Church located near Monticello and Delphi Indiana who are "scheduled" to fly out of Indy on January 25, 2010 at about 6am. Pastor Ken, Pat C., Pam S., Andrea S., and I will be return visitors and Jamie C., Jesse O., Ron S. and Danielle W. will be what I am sure will be the first of many trips they will want to make. We should return on Feb. 1. WHAT WE DO AND WHERE WE GO: We go to give our love, support, encouragement, help, and some bruit strength to the Zachary Family. Davis "Zach" Zachary and his two daughters, Lori and Licia, and their families run a rescue center and medical clinic in Cazale Haiti. Zach and his wife Gretchen were called to Haiti more than 15 (I think) years ago. The rescue center houses around 70 children whose average stay is 2 years. The medical clinic is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for general care and dressing care on the other days - but of course they - Lori and Licia - are on call 24/7 for any and all emergencies. Please check out their website to learn more. You can choose to follow my blog...it is my intent to update it as much as my Blackberry and Verizon will allow while I am gone. Of course, with the earthquakes, so much is up in the air. Chekc back and I will try to keep you updated.

Update

WHEW! Holidays are over and what a blessing they were. We did something very different from what we "normally" do (there's that word again - NORMAL! What's normal!?) On Christmas afternoon we left for Daytona Beach FL. We spent 8 days down there and it was awesome. So amazing to spend 24/7 with your hubby and kids. I loved it! We had a great time. The weather was chilly but we still had time on the beach. I wil try to post photos soon. Now I am getting in Haiti mode. It will be a wonderful time, but a little different this year. I am full of emotions. Given that last year when I left, we had only had the kids a matter of about 6 or 7 weeks, you would think that this year would be a piece of cake, but its not. I am way behind this year and need to getting busy. Once I return from Haiti, we will need to get in baby mode. "K's" baby is due on April 17 and she will start the birthing classes on Feb. 3. Two days after I return. I hope your hiliday was Christ filled and your new year is blessed!
